Create contact CSV to import contacts

You can create users with the Contact CSV import function.  They do not need to have a contact record already, although if they do, it can look them up by (1) contact_id, (2) email address, or (3) first and last name and postal code. 

 

Pay attention to the underscores and dashes; most of the fields only use underscores, but the custom fields also have a dash in them. (e.g. custom_field-default_location_id)

 

An example of a properly formatted CSV file should look as such when viewed in Notepad (Windows Users)

 

 

Common contact fields:

 

first_name
last_name
business_name
address_1
address_2
city
state
postal_code
country
email_address
phone_numbers
(separate with | for example (123) 555-1212|(456) 555-1212)
phone_descriptions (separate with | matching phone_numbers, for example cell|home)
user_name (needs to be unique in the system)
password
administrator_flag
(1 for yes)
user_group_code (for example, EMPLOYEE)
