The Categories sub-module (found in the Inventory module) is where your item categories tree is located and managed. This sub-module consists of two sections.

(1) Search Bar and Done Button

(2) Manage Categories

Search Bar and Done Button

You can use the search bar (A) to find the item category you are looking for. coreSTORE will narrow down the list of categories automatically when you type keywords into the search bar.

To go to the Items sub-module of the Inventory module, click the Done button (B).

Manage Categories

The Manage categories section contains the item categories tree, which you can manage by using the following:

[Note: For more information on how to add/edit categories, see Managing Categories in coreSTORE.]

  • Add root category (C): You can add a main category type by clicking [Add root category]. This main category type will then be inserted in the item categories tree in alphabetical order along with the other main category types [see example (i) below].
  • Add child category (D): You can add a sub-category type by clicking [Add child category]. This sub-category type will then be inserted under the category type that is to the left of the [Add child category] button that you clicked [see example (ii) below].
  • Edit (E): Click [Edit] to edit that category.
  • Delete (F): Click [Delete] to delete that category.
  • Hide from Item Grid (G): Check this box if you do not want this category to be shown in the Item Grid on the Sales screen.

Example (i): For an example of how (C) works, if you wanted to add a new main category type titled A+ Rated, you would click on the [Add root category] button, and A+ Rated would be inserted into the item categories tree in alphabetical order at the same level as Accessories.

Example (ii): For an example of how (D) works, if you wanted to add a new sub-category type under Accessories titled Air Gun Specials, you would click on the [Add child category] button that is to the right of Accessories, and Air Gun Specials would be inserted into the item categories tree in alphabetical order at the same level as AIR_GUN_ACCESSORIES and Bags.

This process works the same for every sub-category level. For another example, if you wanted to add a new sub-category type under AIR_GUN_ACCESSORIES titled Air Gun Cases, you would click on the [Add child category] button that is to the right of AIR_GUN_ACCESSORIES, and Air Gun Cases would be inserted into the item categories tree in alphabetical order at the same level as Air Gun Accessories, Air Gun Magazines, and Co2 Cartridges.

Finally, you can also create a new level in the item categories tree. For example, if you wanted to add a new sub-category type under Air Gun Accessories titled Air Gun Cases, you would click on the [Add child category] button that is to the right of Air Gun Accessories, and Air Gun Cases would be inserted into a new level in the item categories tree under Air Gun Accessories.
