Header Guide

Created by Ezra Weinstein, Modified on Tue, 22 Nov 2022 at 05:32 PM by Hannah Harris

At the top of every page in coreSTORE is the header. The header shows the navigation pathway for the screen you are currently on (1), the current time and date (2), the location switcher (3), the language switcher (4), message notifications (5), link to the What's New (6), and the current user menu (7).

[Note: Click the number above that corresponds to the section of the header you would like to know more about, for example "the location switcher (3)".]

Navigation Pathway (1)

The navigation pathway shows you where you are located in coreSTORE. "Dashboard" will always be the furthest to the left, if you are in a module it will be shown to the right of "Dashboard", and if you are in a sub-screen of the module it will be shown to the right of the module name. For example, in the below image, "Dashboard" is on the left, the user is currently in the Items sub-module and "Items" is listed to the right of "Dashboard", and they are using the Edit Item Info screen and "Edit Item Info" is listed to the right of "Items".

If you want to navigate back to the Dashboard or the module you are currently in, simply click on its name in the navigation pathway.

Current Time/Date (2)

If you have checked the Show Clock In Header checkbox in the Application Settings section of the Store Config module (for more information about this section, see Application Settings Section Guide) AND the screen/window which your coreSTORE is using is wide enough, the current time/date will show here. To configure the clock, you can change the time and date format it uses in the Application Settings section of the Store Config module, and it will use the timezone that is set for the location in the location's profile in the Locations sub-module of the Inventory module (for more information, see How to Configure Locations).

Location Switcher (3)

If you only have one location setup in your coreSTORE, you will just see the name of that location. If you have multiple locations, you will also have a drop-down arrow (circled below) which will show a drop-down list (A) listing the name of each location, and a circle that is the color associated with that location [this is the same color that is the background behind the coreSTORE logo to the left of the header and above the sidebar; to change this color, go to the location's profile in the Locations sub-module of the Inventory module (for more information, see How to Configure Locations)]. If you do not have a color associated with the location, the circle will be grey.

To switch locations, simply select that location from the drop-down list (A).

Language Switcher (4)

coreSTORE supports several languages. The default language is English [to change the default language, select it from the Language drop-down list in the Application Settings section of the Store Config module (for more information about this section, see Application Settings Section Guide)]. If you have checked the Show Language Switcher checkbox in the Application Settings section of the Store Config module (for more information about this section, see Application Settings Section Guide), the language switcher will show here. In order to change languages, click the drop-down arrow (circled below) and select the language you want to use from the drop-down list (B) (the current language you are using will not be listed).

Message Notifications (5)

If you have any new messages, the amount of notifications will show here. If you want to see all messages, click All Messages (C), and coreSTORE will bring you to the main screen of the Messages module. If you want to see the messages that you have sent, click Sent Messages (D), and coreSTORE will bring you to the Sent Messages screen of the Messages module. If you want to create a new message, click New Message (E), and coreSTORE will bring you to the Send Message screen of the Messages module.

What's New (6)

You can find the link to the What's New announcements here. What's New is a recurring newsletter that announces new changes, bug fixes, and general announcements. You can also sign up to receive the What's New sent to your email inbox, but the easiest way to access it is through the header. When you click on the newspaper icon, a window will pop-up where you can view the What's New announcements.

  • To view the main What's New website, click the pop-up window icon (F).
  • To close the What's New pop-up window, click the x (G).
  • To use the search bar (H) to narrow down the What's New articles, type the keyword(s) that you are searching for, then click the magnifying glass icon (J) or hit <Enter> on your keyboard.
  • The What's New announcements (K) are shown below the search bar.

Current User Menu (7)

General options for coreSTORE are included in the current user menu. The name and image of the currently logged-in user is shown here. In order to access the general options, click on the name of the currently logged-in user, which will show a drop-down menu which will includes the following options:

  • Support/Documentation (L): If you need help with your coreSTORE, click Support/Documentation to go to the helpdesk, where you can read help articles or submit a support ticket.
  • Settings (M): Click Settings to be brought to the Store Config module (for more information, see Configuring Your coreSTORE).
  • Switch User (N): To switch logged-in users, click Switch User.
  • Edit profile (O): If you want to edit the currently logged-in user's employee profile, click Edit profile to show the Edit Profile pop-up window (for more information, see Edit Current User Profile Pop-Up Window).
  • Time clock (P): Click Time clock to go to the Time Clock module.
  • Logout (R): If you want to log out, click Logout.
