If you plan to offer firearm rental services within your business, follow the steps in this article to set this up.

  • Step 1: Turn on Rental Items in your Settings
  • Step 2: Activating the Non-Firearm/Non-Serialized Item as a Rental
  • Step 3: Activating the Firearm/Serialized Item as a Rental
  • Step 4: Additional Rental Item Settings
  • Step 5: Adding Item to a Sale for Rental Purposes

Step 1: Turn on Rental Items in your Settings

  • You will need to go to Company>Settings>Search Settings for Rentals
  • Under the Items Module within Settings and Turn On: RENTAL ITEMS then Save.

Step 2: Activating the Non-Firearm/Non-Serialized Item as a Rental

  • You will need to go to Inventory>Items.
  • Search for the UPC of the item/items you would like to offer as Rental Items.
  • Click the EDIT button next to the Inventory Item.
  • Scroll down to the ITEMS SETTINGS and Activate the Item as a Rental Item and Is Service and Require Customer for Sale and Is Barcoded  then Save.

Step 3: Activating the Firearm/Serialized Item as a Rental

  • You will need to go to Inventory>Items.
  • Search for the UPC of the item/items you would like to offer as Rental Items.
  • Click the EDIT button next to the Inventory Item.
  • Scroll down to the ITEMS SETTINGS and Activate the Item as a Rental Item and Is Service and Require Customer for Sale and Is Barcoded and Item Has Serial Number and Single Rental Item then Save.

Step 4: Additional Rental Item Settings

  • The settings listed as: Last Rental Start Date, Last Rental End Date, Last Rental Sale will Autofill with information for the most recent sale with the Rental Item.
  • The Single Rental Item setting is for defining a specific rental item that can only be utilized on a single suspended sale. For instance, if you have a generic rental item, like “hearing protection” you leave it unchecked and that lets you rent out multiple items at the same time.
  • The Color When Rented can be filled in by you when you mark the item on as a Rental Item.

Step 5: Adding Item to a Sale for Rental Purposes

  • See the following brief walkthrough video on how to add a Rental Item to a Sale, and then suspend. Unsuspending adds a Rental Return time. You can accept payment prior to suspending or after unsuspending, when you go to close the Rental Sale.
