How To Automatically Email/SMS Custom Fulfillment Updates

With an EasyPost integration in coreSTORE, you can create shipments for sales and imported internet orders for delivery. Along with this integration, we have also added the ability to have custom fulfillment updates automatically sent by email/sms when an order is placed into a specific fulfillment status, which can also include tracking information from EasyPost.

Setup Email/SMS Content in Fulfillment Status

In order to setup the custom fulfillment updates, you will need to go to the Fulfillment module and setup a fulfillment status. After you open the Fulfillment module (1), click on the three dot menu (2), then Manage Fulfillment Statuses (3):

On the Manage Fulfillment Statuses page, you will want to locate and edit the Shipped status (4), which all fulfillment orders are automatically put under when they are completed.

Description (5): If sending updates via SMS, input your desired title for the SMS.

Notify Customer Via Email (6): Mark this box if you want the customer to be notified automatically via email with the email content entered in (7) when this status is applied to an order or when the order is completed.

Email Content (7): Input into this field the desired content of the email. This can be formatted using the editor, and you can add replacement fields for info that can be pulled directly from the sale/fulfillment data, and even tracking info from EasyPost.

Notify Customer Via SMS (8): Mark this box if you want the customer to be notified automatically via SMS with the SMS content entered in (9) when this status is applied to an order or when the order is completed.

SMS Content (9): Input into this field the desired content of the SMS.

Save (10): Click the Save button to save the changes to the fulfillment status.

Example Email Content and Replacement Fields

For the automatic email updates you can use replacement fields to pull info from the sale/fulfillment data and tracking info from EasyPost for personalized and specific updates. Here is our example email content:


Dear {people.full_name},

Thanks again for your order.  The following items from order: {sales.sale_id} have shipped.

{shipment.items}

Click the tracking number below:

{sales_shipments.tracking_url} 

Thanks again for your order!


Using this email content will directly address the customer on the order (people.full_name), let them know which sale has been shipped (sales.sale_id), which items out of that order have been shipped (shipment.items), and send them a link to the tracking page for the shipment (sales_shipments.tracking_url) which is provided by EasyPost.
