Accessing the Variations Tab

After you add an item to your Inventory by saving the changes you have made on the Item Info tab (for more information about the Item Info tab, see Item Info Tab Guide), coreSTORE will automatically bring you to the Variations tab, where you can customize the item even further.

Alternatively, if you are editing an existing item by clicking on the Edit button next to the item in the Items list (for more information, see Items Sub-Module Overview), you will initially be brought to the Item Info tab (1). Click Variations (2) to be brought to the Variations tab.

[Note: If you need to return to the Items sub-module of the Inventory module, either select the Inventory module from the sidebar or click the Done button (only available if editing an existing item).]

Variations Tab Overview

The Variations tab consists of the Quantity Units (1), Variations (2), Related Items (3), and Options (4) tabs.

[Note: Depending on where the item you are adding/editing is located in the Items list (see Items Sub-Module Overview), you can move to the other items in the list by using the Previous/Next Item buttons (4). Depending on the location of the item, you will see either the Previous Item or Next Item button or both.]

Variations Section Guide

Once you have created attributes in the Attributes sub-module (for more information about this sub-module, see Attributes Sub-Module Overview), you can assign them to items. In this section of the Variations tab, you can assign those attributes to the item you are adding/editing (1), and you can create variations based upon those attributes (2).

The first step to creating a variation for an item is assigning attributes to the item using Item Attributes (1). First, you will select an attribute from the drop-down list (A). You can either select an existing attribute from the Attributes sub-module or create a custom attribute for this particular item. In order to add your selection to the item, click the Add button (B) (if creating a custom attribute, input it into the window that pops-up and click OK). Below the drop-down list the name of the attribute you have added will be listed (C). To select which values of that attribute apply to the item, type them into the Values search field (D) (for a step-by-step guide showing you how to add these values, see Setting Up Item Variations in coreSTORE).

You can also remove the attribute from this item by clicking Delete (E). If you need to add an attribute that you also want to use for other items or to add a value to an existing attribute, you can access the Attributes list by clicking Manage Global Attributes (F) (for more information, see Attributes Sub-Module Overview).

After assigning attributes to the item, use Item Variations (2) to create variations based upon those attributes. The easiest way to create variations is to click the Auto create variations button (G), which will automatically create variations based upon the attributes and values added in Item Attributes (1).

You can also create variations on your own. To add a variation click Add Item Variation (H), then input a name for the variation (J), select which attribute the variations correlates with (K) (for a step-by-step guide showing you how to select the attribute, see Setting Up Item Variations in coreSTORE), input the item number that corresponds to the specific item with the variation (L), and select from the drop-down list (M) if the variation is an Ecommerce item (Yes or No). When you create each variation, coreSTORE will automatically assign it a Variation ID (N). To delete a variation, click Delete (O).

(Note: Once you have created the variation, you can manage pricing and inventory per variation.)

Related Items Section Guide

In the Related Items section, you can create a list of items that are related to the item you are adding/editing. Use the Add Item search bar (1) to narrow down the item you are wanting to add to the list, and repeat as needed. The name of the related item, the category it falls under, and the price of the related item are listed (2). If you want to delete an item from the list, click on the trash can icon (3).

Options Section Guide

In the Options section, you can select which options you want to be applicable to the item by checking the box next to the option(s) you want to select.

(for more information about options, see Options Sub-Module Overview)
